The Prophet ﷺ said, "Madinah is a sanctuary from such-and-such to such-and-such. Its trees are not to be cut, and no transgression is to be committed within it. Whoever commits a transgression therein, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people."

عن النبي ﷺ قال المدينة حرم من كذا إلى كذا لا يقطع شجرها ولا يحدث فيها حدث من أحدث حدثا فعليه لعنة الله والملائكة والناس أجمعين
Bukhari reported from Abu Salama, from Abdul-Wahid, from Asim, from Anas, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, declared Madinah sacred. Musa bin Anas said, "He housed a number of people."This is a mistake, either from Bukhari or from Abu Salama, because Muslim reported it from Hamid, from Abdul-Rahman, who said in it, "Nadr bin Anas said," and that is the correct version.
Al-Hafiz, may Allah have mercy on him, said, after mentioning Daraqutni's statement and Iyad's statement that Muslim had narrated it correctly, "I say, if he means that Muslim said 'from Nadr,' that is not so, for he only said this when he narrated it from Hamid bin Umar, from Abdul-Wahid, from Asim, from Ibn Anas. If Iyad meant that leaving the narrator unspecified was correct, then the flaw in that is not hidden.The one who named him Nadr was Musaddad, from Abdul-Wahid, and thus he narrated it in his Musnad, and Abu Naeem narrated it in his Mustakhraj through his route. Amr bin Abu Qays narrated it from Asim, and made clear that part of it, according to him, was from Anas himself, while part of it was from Nadr bin Anas from his father. Abu Awana narrated it in his Mustakhraj, and Abu Shaykh in Kitab al-Targhib, both through his route, from Asim, from Anas.Asim said, 'I did not hear it from Anas,' or perhaps he said he was told by a narrator, so I said to Nadr, 'Did you not hear this,' meaning the additional part, from Anas? He said, 'Rather, I heard it from him more than a hundred times.'The explanation of the hadith of Ali has already been given there, along with the narration from him and from Anas, near the end of the chapters on Hajj, at the beginning of the virtues of Madinah, in the chapter on the sanctity of Madinah, and I mentioned some of its narrators there (1). And Allah grants success." End of quote.This addition was narrated from Asim, from Anas, without an intermediary, and Bukhari narrated it from Musa bin Anas.I say, thus it is established that Daraqutni was correct in his criticism of this narration, and that the correct version is from Nadr bin Anas.
