Hisham bin Urwa reported,

Urwa said that during the days of ignorance, people would perform tawaf around the Kaaba naked, except for the Hums. The Hums were Quraysh and their descendants. The Hums considered it an act of piety to provide for others, so a man would give clothing to another man to perform tawaf in, and a woman would give clothing to another woman to perform tawaf in. Whoever was not given clothing by the Hums would perform tawaf around the House naked. The general populace would depart from Arafat, while the Hums would depart from Muzdalifah.He said, my father informed me from Ayesha that this verse was revealed concerning the Hums, "Then depart from where the people depart" [Baqarah 2:199]. He said, they used to depart from Muzdalifah, but were commanded to go to Arafat instead.

عن هشام بن عروة قال

عروة كان الناس يطوفون في الجاهلية عراة إلا الحمس والحمس قريش وما ولدت وكانت الحمس يحتسبون على الناس يعطي الرجل الرجل الثياب يطوف فيها وتعطي المرأة المرأة الثياب تطوف فيها فمن لم يعطه الحمس طاف بالبيت عريانا وكان يفيض جماعة الناس من عرفات ويفيض الحمس من جمع قال وأخبرني أبي عن عائشة رضي الله عنها أن هذه الآية نزلت في الحمس {ثم أفيضوا من حيث أفاض الناس} قال كانوا يفيضون من جمع فدفعوا إلى عرفات
