I asked the Prophet ﷺ, "Is the Hijr part of the House?"He replied, "Yes."I said, "Then why did they not include it in the House?"He answered, "Your people ran short of funds."I asked, "And why is its door raised so high?"He said, "Your people did that so they could let in whomever they wished and keep out whomever they wished. Were it not that your people are recent in their break from the days of ignorance, and I fear their hearts would reject it, I would have included the Hijr in the House and brought its door down level with the ground."
حدثنا مسدد حدثنا أبو الأحوص حدثنا أشعث عن الأسود بن يزيد
سألت النبي ﷺ عن الجدر أمن البيت هو قال نعم قلت فما لهم لم يدخلوه في البيت قال إن قومك قصرت بهم النفقة قلت فما شأن بابه مرتفعا قال فعل ذلك قومك ليدخلوا من شاءوا ويمنعوا من شاءوا ولولا أن قومك حديث عهدهم بالجاهلية فأخاف أن تنكر قلوبهم أن أدخل الجدر في البيت وأن ألصق بابه بالأرض
