Amir bin Saad bin Abu Waqqas reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once gave gifts to a group of men while I was sitting among them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed over one man and gave him nothing, though he was the one I admired most among them. So I got up, went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and spoke to him privately.I said, "Why did you leave out so-and-so? By Allah, I consider him a believer."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Or a Muslim."I kept quiet for a little while, but what I knew of the man got the better of me, so I said again, "Messenger of Allah, why did you leave out so-and-so? By Allah, I consider him a believer."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Or a Muslim."I kept quiet for a little while, but again what I knew of the man got the better of me, so I said, "Messenger of Allah, why did you leave out so-and-so? By Allah, I consider him a believer."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "Or a Muslim." Then he said, "I sometimes give to a man while someone else is dearer to me than he is, out of fear that he might be flung headlong into the Fire."And from his father, from Salih, from Ismail bin Muhammad, who said, I heard my father narrate this hadith, and in his version he said, The Messenger of Allah ﷺ reached out his hand and drew me close by my neck and shoulder, then said, "Come here, Saad. I sometimes give to a man..."Abu Abdullah said, regarding "they will be flung" [Shuara 26:94], it means they will be overturned. As for "fallen prone" [Mulk 67:22], one says "akabba the man" when the action does not fall upon anyone else, but when the action does take an object, you say "Allah flung him on his face" and "I flung him down."
