Abu Hurairah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, "The example of the miser and the one who gives in charity is like that of two men wearing iron cloaks."Abu Yaman narrated to us, Shuayb informed us, Abu Zinad narrated to us that Abdul-Rahman told him that he heard Abu Hurayrah say that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "The example of the miser and the spender in charity is like that of two men wearing iron cloaks reaching from their breasts to their collarbones. As for the spender, whenever he spends, the cloak expands and stretches over his skin until it covers his fingertips and wipes away his tracks. As for the miser, whenever he wishes to spend something, every ring clings tightly to its place, and he tries to widen it but it does not widen."Hasan bin Muslim followed him in narrating this from Tawus regarding the two cloaks.

حدثنا موسى حدثنا وهيب حدثنا ابن طاوس عن أبيه

عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال

قال النبي ﷺ مثل البخيل والمتصدق كمثل رجلين عليهما جبتان من حديد و حدثنا أبو اليمان أخبرنا شعيب حدثنا أبو الزناد أن عبد الرحمن حدثه أنه سمع أبا هريرة رضي الله عنه أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول مثل البخيل والمنفق كمثل رجلين عليهما جبتان من حديد من ثديهما إلى تراقيهما فأما المنفق فلا ينفق إلا سبغت أو وفرت على جلده حتى تخفي بنانه وتعفو أثره وأما البخيل فلا يريد أن ينفق شيئا إلا لزقت كل حلقة مكانها فهو يوسعها ولا تتسع تابعه الحسن بن مسلم عن طاوس في الجبتين
