Abu Aswad reported,
I arrived in Madinah at a time when an illness had spread there. I sat with Umar bin Khattab 
, and a funeral procession passed by them. The deceased was praised with good words, and Umar said, "It is guaranteed."Then another passed by, and the deceased was praised with good words, and Umar said, "It is guaranteed."Then a third passed by, and the deceased was spoken of with ill words, and he said, "It is guaranteed."Abu Aswad said, I asked, "What is guaranteed, Commander of the Believers?"He replied, "I said what the Prophet ﷺ said, 'Any Muslim for whom four people testify with good, Allah will admit him into Paradise.' We asked, 'And three?' He said, 'And three.' We asked, 'And two?' He said, 'And two.' Then we did not ask him about one."

عن أبي الأسود قال
قدمت المدينة وقد وقع بها مرض فجلست إلى عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه فمرت بهم جنازة فأثني على صاحبها خيرا فقال عمر رضي الله عنه وجبت ثم مر بأخرى فأثني على صاحبها خيرا فقال عمر رضي الله عنه وجبت ثم مر بالثالثة فأثني على صاحبها شرا فقال وجبت فقال أبو الأسود فقلت وما وجبت يا أمير المؤمنين قال قلت كما قال النبي ﷺ أيما مسلم شهد له أربعة بخير أدخله الله الجنة فقلنا وثلاثة قال وثلاثة فقلنا واثنان قال واثنان ثم لم نسأله عن الواحد
Bukhari reported, from the hadith of Dawud bin Abu Furat, from Ibn Burayda, from Abu Aswad, from Umar, that a funeral procession passed by and he said, "It is confirmed."Ali bin Madini said in his Musnad, "Ibn Burayda's narration is actually that Yahya bin Yamar reports from Abu Aswad, and in this hadith he did not say, 'I heard Abu Aswad,' so that it could be considered a connected chain."Abu Hasan said, "Waki also reported this hadith, from Umar bin Walid Shanni, from Abdullah bin Burayda, who said, 'Umar sat down...'" as a mursal report, and he narrated it as a raised report without mentioning anyone between Ibn Burayda and Umar.
Al-Hafiz said in Fath al-Bari, "His statement 'from Abu Aswad' refers to the well-known senior successor, Abu Aswad Dili. I have not seen it narrated by Abdullah bin Burayda from him except with an ambiguous transmission formula (an'ana). Daraqutni, in his book Tatabbu, related from Ali bin Madini that Ibn Burayda actually narrates from Yahya bin Yamar, from Abu Aswad, and in this hadith he did not say, 'I heard Abu Aswad.'"I say, Ibn Burayda was born during the time of Umar, so he undoubtedly lived at the same time as Abu Aswad. However, Bukhari does not content himself with mere contemporaneity, so perhaps he included this hadith as a corroborating narration, relying for the main account on the hadith of Anas that precedes it.
