Abu Hurairah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ prayed a prayer and then said, "Satan came before me and set upon me to break off my prayer, but Allah gave me power over him and I throttled him. I intended to tie him to a pillar so that you would all see him in the morning, but then I remembered the words of Sulayman , my Lord, "grant me a kingdom that will not belong to anyone after me" [Sad 38:35], and Allah sent him back humiliated."Then Nadr bin Shumayl said that the word as pronounced with the letter dhal means that he throttled him, while the form with the letter dal comes from the words of Allah, "the day they will be thrust" [Tur 52:13], meaning driven away. The correct form is the one with dal, except that this is how he said it, with the ayn and the ta doubled.

عن النبي ﷺ أنه صلى صلاة قال إن الشيطان عرض لي فشد علي ليقطع الصلاة علي فأمكنني الله منه فذعته ولقد هممت أن أوثقه إلى سارية حتى تصبحوا فتنظروا إليه فذكرت قول سليمان عليه السلام رب {هب لي ملكا لا ينبغي لأحد من بعدي} فرده الله خاسيا ثم قال النضر بن شميل فذعته بالذال أي خنقته وفدعته من قول الله {يوم يدعون} أي يدفعون والصواب فدعته إلا أنه كذا قال بتشديد العين والتاء
