Abdullah bin Abbas reported,

Abdullah bin Abbas رضي الله عنهم reported that he spent the night at the home of Maymunah, the Mother of the Believers رضي الله عنها, who was his maternal aunt. He said, "I lay down across the width of the pillow, while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his wife lay along its length. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ slept until the middle of the night, or shortly before, or shortly after. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up, sat up, and wiped the sleep from his face with his hand. He then recited the last ten verses of Surat Al Imran. Afterwards, he went to a hanging waterskin and performed ablution from it, doing so beautifully, and then stood up to pray."Abdullah bin Abbas رضي الله عنهم continued, "I got up and did exactly as he had done, then went and stood at his side. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his right hand on my head and took hold of my right ear, twisting it gently with his hand. He then prayed two units of prayer, then two more, then two more, then two more, then two more, then two more, and then he prayed witr. After that, he lay down until the caller to prayer came to him. He stood up and prayed two brief units, then went out and prayed the dawn prayer."
