Abdullah bin Umar reported,

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever travel pressed him to hurry on a journey, delay the maghrib prayer until he combined it with isha.Salim said, Abdullah bin Umar used to do the same whenever travel pressed him to hurry. He would call the iqamah for maghrib and pray three rakats, then make the tasleem. He would wait only briefly before calling the iqamah for isha and praying it as two rakats, then making the tasleem. He would not perform any voluntary prayer between the two, nor any prostration after isha, until he rose in the depths of the night.

حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال أخبرني سالم

عن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما قال

رأيت رسول الله ﷺ إذا أعجله السير في السفر يؤخر صلاة المغرب حتى يجمع بينها وبين العشاء قال سالم وكان عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما يفعله إذا أعجله السير ويقيم المغرب فيصليها ثلاثا ثم يسلم ثم قلما يلبث حتى يقيم العشاء فيصليها ركعتين ثم يسلم ولا يسبح بينهما بركعة ولا بعد العشاء بسجدة حتى يقوم من جوف الليل
