Anas bin Sirin reported,

We met Anas bin Malik when he arrived from Sham, encountering him at Ayn al-Tamr. I saw him praying on a donkey, with his face turned toward this side, meaning to the left of the qiblah.I said to him, "I see you praying in a direction other than the qiblah."He replied, "Had I not seen the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do this, I would not have done it."This was narrated by Ibrahim bin Tahman from Hajjaj from Anas bin Sirin from Anas bin Malik from the Prophet ﷺ.

حدثنا أحمد بن سعيد قال حدثنا حبان قال حدثنا همام قال حدثنا

أنس بن سيرين قال

استقبلنا أنس بن مالك حين قدم من الشأم فلقيناه بعين التمر فرأيته يصلي على حمار ووجهه من ذا الجانب يعني عن يسار القبلة فقلت رأيتك تصلي لغير القبلة فقال لولا أني رأيت رسول الله ﷺ فعله لم أفعله رواه إبراهيم بن طهمان عن حجاج عن أنس بن سيرين عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه عن النبي ﷺ
