Abdullah bin Umar reported,

I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, whenever he was pressed for time during a journey, delay the Maghrib prayer until he combined it with Isha.Salim said that Abdullah bin Umar used to do the same whenever he was pressed for time on a journey.Layth added, reporting from Yunus from Ibn Shihab, that Salim said Ibn Umar used to combine Maghrib and Isha at Muzdalifa.Salim also said that Ibn Umar once delayed Maghrib when he had been called urgently regarding his wife, Safiya bint Abu Ubayd.I said to him, "It is time for the prayer."He replied, "Ride on."I said again, "The prayer."He said, "Ride on."He continued for two or three miles, then dismounted and prayed. Afterwards he said, "This is how I saw the Prophet ﷺ pray whenever he was pressed for time on a journey."Abdullah said, "I saw the Prophet ﷺ, whenever he was pressed for time on a journey, delay Maghrib and pray it as three units, then give the salutation. He would not wait long before calling the iqamah for Isha and praying it as two units, then giving the salutation. He would not perform any voluntary prayer after Isha until he rose in the depth of the night."

حدثنا أبو اليمان قال أخبرنا شعيب عن الزهري قال أخبرني سالم

عن عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما قال

رأيت رسول الله ﷺ إذا أعجله السير في السفر يؤخر المغرب حتى يجمع بينها وبين العشاء قال سالم وكان عبد الله بن عمر رضي الله عنهما يفعله إذا أعجله السير وزاد الليث قال حدثني يونس عن ابن شهاب قال سالم كان ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما يجمع بين المغرب والعشاء بالمزدلفة قال سالم وأخر ابن عمر المغرب وكان استصرخ على امرأته صفية بنت أبي عبيد فقلت له الصلاة فقال سر فقلت الصلاة فقال سر حتى سار ميلين أو ثلاثة ثم نزل فصلى ثم قال هكذا رأيت النبي ﷺ يصلي إذا أعجله السير وقال عبد الله رأيت النبي ﷺ إذا أعجله السير يؤخر المغرب فيصليها ثلاثا ثم يسلم ثم قلما يلبث حتى يقيم العشاء فيصليها ركعتين ثم يسلم ولا يسبح بعد العشاء حتى يقوم من جوف الليل
