Bukhari 1072

Both of them (Bukhari and Muslim) narrated the hadith of Ismail bin Jafar from Ibn Khusayfa, from Ibn Qusayt, from Ata bin Yasar, from Zayd bin Thabit, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recited Najm and did not prostrate.Bukhari added, from the hadith of Ibn Abu Dhib (from Ibn Khusayfa), from Ibn Qusayt, from Ata, from Zayd.Abu Hasan said, Zuhayr bin Muhammad also narrated it from Ibn Khusayfa in the same way. And Ibn Wahb narrated it from Abu Sakhr, from Ibn Qusayt, from Kharija bin Zayd, from his father, and this follows the pattern of Muslim.

Hafiz, may Allah have mercy on him, said in Fath al-Bari, volume 2, page 555, as a useful note, "Ibn Abu Dhib and Yazid bin Khusayfa agreed on this chain going back to Ibn Qusayt, but Abu Sakhr differed from them both, reporting it from Ibn Qusayt from Kharija bin Zayd from his father. Abu Dawud and Tabarani recorded it this way. If this is preserved correctly, it can be explained by saying that Ibn Qusayt had two different teachers for this hadith."He added, "Abu Sakhr included in his version the statement, 'I prayed behind Umar bin Abdul-Aziz and Abu Bakr bin Hazm, and they did not prostrate in it.'" End of quote.

I say, Abu Sakhr is Humayd bin Ziyad. Al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib, "Truthful but makes mistakes."
