The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ stood and led the people in prayer. He prolonged the recitation, then bowed and prolonged the bowing. Then he raised his head and prolonged the recitation again, though shorter than his first recitation. Then he bowed and prolonged the bowing, though shorter than his first bowing. Then he raised his head and performed two prostrations. Then he stood and did the same in the second cycle.Afterward, he stood and said, "The sun and the moon are not eclipsed for the death of anyone or for his life, but they are two of the signs of Allah by which He shows His servants. So when you see that, hasten to prayer."
حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد قال حدثنا هشام أخبرنا معمر عن الزهري وهشام بن عروة عن عروة
كسفت الشمس على عهد رسول الله ﷺ فقام النبي ﷺ فصلى بالناس فأطال القراءة ثم ركع فأطال الركوع ثم رفع رأسه فأطال القراءة وهي دون قراءته الأولى ثم ركع فأطال الركوع دون ركوعه الأول ثم رفع رأسه فسجد سجدتين ثم قام فصنع في الركعة الثانية مثل ذلك ثم قام فقال إن الشمس والقمر لا يخسفان لموت أحد ولا لحياته ولكنهما آيتان من آيات الله يريهما عباده فإذا رأيتم ذلك فافزعوا إلى الصلاة
