The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led the people in prayer. He stood and prolonged the standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, then stood again and prolonged the standing, though it was shorter than the first standing, then bowed and prolonged the bowing, though it was shorter than the first bowing, then prostrated and prolonged the prostration. He did the same in the second cycle as he had done in the first. When he finished, the sun had cleared. He addressed the people, praising Allah and glorifying Him, then said, "The sun and the moon are two of Allah's signs. They are not eclipsed for anyone's death or life. So when you see that, call upon Allah, magnify Him, pray, and give in charity."Then he said, "Community of Muhammad, by Allah, no one is more protective in honor than Allah that His male servant should commit adultery or His female servant should commit adultery. Community of Muhammad, by Allah, if you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much."
