We were with Abdullah when he said, "When the Prophet ﷺ saw the people turning away, he prayed, 'Allah, send upon them seven years of famine like the seven years of Yusuf.' So a year of drought struck them that consumed everything, until they ate hides, carrion, and rotting carcasses. Any one of them would look at the sky and see something like smoke from sheer hunger.Abu Sufyan came to him and said, 'Muhammad, you command obedience to Allah and the keeping of family ties, and your people are perishing. Pray to Allah for them.'Allah the Exalted said, "So watch for the day when the sky will bring a visible smoke" up to His words "Indeed, you will return to disbelief. The day We will strike with the great assault, indeed, We will take retribution" [Dukhan 44:10–16].The assault was on the day of Badr. The smoke, the assault, the binding punishment, and the sign of the Romans have all already come to pass."
حدثنا عثمان بن أبي شيبة قال حدثنا جرير عن منصور عن أبي الضحى
كنا عند عبد الله فقال إن النبي ﷺ لما رأى من الناس إدبارا قال اللهم سبع كسبع يوسف فأخذتهم سنة حصت كل شيء حتى أكلوا الجلود والميتة والجيف وينظر أحدهم إلى السماء فيرى الدخان من الجوع فأتاه أبو سفيان فقال يا محمد إنك تأمر بطاعة الله وبصلة الرحم وإن قومك قد هلكوا فادع الله لهم قال الله تعالى {فارتقب يوم تأتي السماء بدخان مبين} إلى قوله {إنكم عائدون يوم نبطش البطشة الكبرى إنا منتقمون} فالبطشة يوم بدر وقد مضت الدخان والبطشة واللزام وآية الروم
