The Prophet ﷺ was wearing two coats of mail on the day of Uhud. He tried to climb up onto the rock but could not manage it, so Talha crouched beneath him, and the Prophet ﷺ climbed on his back until he stood firmly on the rock.He said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'Talha has earned it,'" meaning Paradise.
كان على النبي ﷺ درعان يوم أحد، فنهض إلى الصخرة، فلم يستطع، فأقعد طلحة تحته، فصعد النبي ﷺ عليه حتى استوى على الصخرة فقال: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: أوجب طلحة.
Tirmidhi (1992, 3738), Ahmad (1417), Ibn Hibban (6979), Hakim (3/374), and Bayhaqi (6/370 and 90/46) all reported it through various chains from Muhammad bin Ishaq, who said, "Yahya bin Abbad bin Abdullah bin Zubayr narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather Abdullah bin Zubayr, from Zubayr bin Awwam," and he mentioned the hadith. The mention of "his father" is dropped from Ibn Hibban's version. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we do not know it except through the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq." Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith meeting the criteria of Muslim."As for his statement, "Talha secured it," it means he did a deed that secured Paradise for him.
