The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No wealth has ever benefited me as much as the wealth of Abu Bakr."Abu Bakr wept and said, "Am I and my wealth anything but yours, Messenger of Allah?"
قال رسول الله ﷺ: ما نفعني مال قط ما نفعني مال أبي بكر، قال: فبكى أبو بكر، وقال: هل أنا ومالي إلا لك يا رسول الله.
Nasai narrated it in al-Fadail (9), Ibn Majah (94), and Ahmad (7446), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (6858), all of them through the route of Abu Muawiya, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.As for what Tirmidhi narrated (3661) through another route from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "No one among us has done us a favor without our having repaid him, except for Abu Bakr, for he has a favor owed to him by us that Allah will repay on the Day of Resurrection. No one's wealth has ever benefited me as much as the wealth of Abu Bakr has benefited me. And if I were to take a close friend, I would have taken Abu Bakr as a close friend. But your companion is the close friend of Allah," this is daif. It contains Mahbub bin Mihraz and his teacher Dawud bin Yazid, and both of them are daif according to the majority of scholars. As for Tirmidhi, he said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith from this route."
