The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will come a people whose oaths will outrun their testimonies and whose testimonies will outrun their oaths."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: خير الناس قرني، ثم الذين يلونهم، ثم الذين يلون الذين يلونهم، ثم يأتي قوم تسبق أيمانهم شهادتهم، وشهادتهم أيمانهم.
Ahmad (18348) narrated it, as did Harith in his Musnad as found in Bughyah (1036), Abu Naeem in Hilyah (2/78 and 4/125), and Ibn Hibban (6727), all of them through Abu Nadr Hashim bin Qasim, who said, Shayban told us, from Asim, from Khaythama and Shaybi, from Numan bin Bashir, who said, and then he related it.Asim is Ibn Bahdala, who is disputed but whose hadith is hasan. Abu Naeem said after it, "This is a well-known hadith transmitted through Asim."
