Allah benefited me with a statement I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during the days of the Battle of the Camel, after I had nearly joined the people of the Camel and fought alongside them. He said, "When word reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that the people of Persia had appointed the daughter of Khosrau as their ruler, he said, 'A people who entrust their affairs to a woman will never succeed.'"
لقد نفعني الله بكلمة سمعتها من رسول الله ﷺ أيام الجمل بعد ما كدت أن ألحق بأصحاب الجمل فأقاتل معهم، قال: لما بلغ رسول الله ﷺ أن أهل فارس قد ملكوا عليهم بنت كسرى قال: لن يفلح قوم ولوا أمرهم امرأة.
Bukhari narrated it in "The Military Expeditions" (4425) from Uthman bin Haytham, who said, Awf narrated to us, from Hasan, from Abu Bakra, who said, and then he related it.This was when news reached the Prophet ﷺ that Kisra had been killed and his daughter had succeeded him, as Tirmidhi (2262), Nasai (5388), and Hakim (3/118-119) also narrated it, all of them from the hadith of Humayd Tawil, from Hasan, from Abu Bakra, who said,"Allah protected me through something I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. When Kisra died, he asked, 'Whom did they make his successor?' They said, 'His daughter.' So the Prophet ﷺ said, 'A people will never prosper who put a woman in charge of their affairs.'"He said, "When Ayesha came, meaning to Basra, I remembered the saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and Allah protected me through it."This wording is Tirmidhi's. He said, "This is a sahih hadith."I say, and it is so, even though Hasan Basri appears in it, who was a mudallis and narrated it with "an", but Bukhari's inclusion of it indicates that it is connected.Abdul-Rahman bin Jawshan corroborated him, as recorded by Imam Ahmad (20402), from Yahya, from Uyayna, who said, "My father told me, from Abu Bakra, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said, 'A people will never prosper who entrust their affairs to a woman.'"Abu Uyayna is Abdul-Rahman bin Jawshan Ghatafani, and he is trustworthy.
