The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a ring made of silver, and he wore it on his hand. After him, it was on the hand of Abu Bakr, then on the hand of Umar, then on the hand of Uthman, until it later fell into the well of Aris. Its inscription was "Muhammad, Messenger of Allah."
اتخذ رسول الله ﷺ خاتما من ورق وكان في يده، ثم كان بعد في يد أبي بكر، ثم كان بعد في يد عمر، ثم كان بعد في يد عثمان، حتى وقع بعد في بئر أريس نقشه محمد رسول الله.
Reported by Bukhari in the Book of Clothing (5873) and Muslim in the Book of Clothing (54:2091), both through the route of Abdullah bin Numayr, who said, Ubaydullah narrated to us, from Nafi, from Ibn Umar, who said, and then he mentioned it.A version found in Tirmidhi's Shamail (83) and Ahmad (5366) states, "So he would seal with it but not wear it," and its chain is sahih. This does not contradict what is in the Sahihayn, for it can be understood as referring to different occasions, meaning he would wear it at one time and set it aside at another, and there is no irregularity in it.
