It was said to him, "Abu Abdul-Rahman, I have seen you do four things that I have not seen any of your companions do."He asked, "What are they, Ibn Jurayj?"He mentioned them, and among them was, "I have seen you wear sandals made of tanned leather without hair."He replied, "As for the tanned leather sandals, I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wear sandals that had no hair on them and perform ablution while wearing them, so I love to wear them..." and the rest of the hadith.
أنه قيل له: يا أبا عبد الرحمن رأيتك تصنع أربعا لم أر أحدا من أصحابك يصنعها قال: وما هي يا ابن جريج؟ فذكرها ومنها: ورأيتك تلبس النعال السبتية، فقال: وأما النعال السبتية فإني رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يلبس النعل التي ليس فيها شعر ويتوضأ فيها، فأنا أحب أن ألبسها… الحديث.
Malik narrated it in Hajj (33) from Saeed bin Abu Saeed Maqburi, from Ubayd bin Jurayj, that he said to Abdullah bin Umar, as mentioned. Bukhari narrated it in Clothing (5851) and Muslim in Hajj (1187:25), both of them through the route of Malik, in like manner.
