When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on a journey and stopped to rest at night, he would lie down on his right side. When he stopped to rest just before dawn, he would prop up his forearm and rest his head on his palm.
كان رسول الله ﷺ إذا كان في سفر، فعرس بليل، اضطجع على يمينه، وإذا عرس قبيل الصبح نصب ذراعيه، ووضع رأسه على كفه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Masjids (313:683), from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who said, Sulayman bin Harb informed us, who said, Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, from Humayd, from Bakr bin Abdullah (he is Muzani), from Abdullah bin Rabah, from Abu Qatada who said, then he mentioned it.His saying, "he made camp" (arras) means he stopped and dismounted, and tarees is stopping to rest at any time.
