I gave the Messenger of Allah ﷺ water from Zamzam to drink, and he drank it while standing.
سقيت رسول الله ﷺ من زمزم، فشرب وهو قائم.
Bukhari narrated it in the book of Hajj (1637) and in the book of Drinks (5617), and Muslim narrated it in the book of Drinks (2027:117, 118), both through routes from Asim al-Ahwal, from Shaybi, from Ibn Abbas, who said, and then he mentioned it. As for what has come regarding the prohibition of drinking while standing, it is to be understood as a matter of disliked conduct rather than outright prohibition.
