Ahmad (3129) narrated it from Hajjaj, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Ismail bin Umaya informed me, from a man, from Ibn Abbas, who said, and then he mentioned it. Its chain is daif because of the unnamed narrator, who may be Abu Ismail, Umaya bin Saeed Ashdaq. This is as Musaddad narrated it in his Musnad (Ithaf Mahra 8/181, no. 9168) from Muhammad bin Jabir, from Ismail bin Umaya, from his father, from Ibn Abbas, with the wording, "Which drink do you love most?" Umaya bin Saeed Ashdaq is not problematic, but Muhammad bin Jabir bin Sayyar Hanafi has been criticized by scholars. However, this hadith is strengthened by what was narrated from Ayesha, who said, the drink most beloved to the Messenger of Allah was the sweet, cold one.Tirmidhi narrated it in his Sunan (1895) and in Shamail (206), and Nasai in Kubra (6815), and Ahmad (24100), and Hakim graded it sahih (4/137), all of them through the route of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Mamar, from Zuhri, from Urwa, from Ayesha, who said, and then she mentioned it.There is disagreement regarding Mamar over whether this hadith is connected or disconnected. Ibn Uyayna connected it, while Abdul-Razzaq (19583) and Ibn Mubarak, as found in Tirmidhi (1896), both narrated it from Mamar, from Zuhri, from the Prophet, disconnected. Mamar is corroborated in his disconnection by Yunus bin Yazid Ayli, as found in Ibn Abu Shayba (24676) and Tirmidhi (1896), from Zuhri, from the Prophet, disconnected.For this reason, the leading scholars gave preference to the disconnected version over the connected one, such as Tirmidhi, Abu Zura, and Daraqutni. Dhahabi said regarding the connected version, "Mamar did not narrate it in Yemen." This disconnected version strengthens the hadith of Ibn Abbas.It has also been narrated as connected through the route of Hisham bin Urwa, from his father, from Ayesha. Hakim narrated it (4/137), but its chain contains Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Yahya bin Urwa, who is matruk.
