The Prophet ﷺ said, "You will be gathered barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised." Then he recited, "As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. A promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it" [Anbiya 21:104]."The first to be clothed on the Day of Resurrection will be Ibrahim. Some people from among my companions will be taken to the left, and I will say, 'My companions, my companions!' But it will be said, 'They never ceased turning back on their heels from the moment you parted from them.' So I will say what the righteous servant said, "And I was a witness over them as long as I remained among them. But when You took me, You were the Observer over them, and You are Witness over all things. If You should punish them, indeed they are Your servants. But if You forgive them, indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise" [Maidah 5:117–118]."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: إنكم تحشرون حفاة عراة غرلا ثم قرأ: {كما بدأنا أول خلق نعيده وعدا علينا إنا كنا فاعلين} [سورة الأنبياء: ١٠٤]، وأول من يكسى يوم القيامة إبراهيم، وإن ناسا من أصحابي يؤخذ بهم ذات الشمال، فأقول: أصحابي أصحابي، فيقول: إنهم لم يزالوا مرتدين على أعقابهم منذ فارقتهم، فأقول كما قال العبد الصالح: {وكنت عليهم شهيدا ما دمت فيهم فلما توفيتني كنت أنت الرقيب عليهم وأنت على كل شيء شهيد إن تعذبهم فإنهم عبادك وإن تغفر لهم فإنك أنت العزيز الحكيم} [سورة المائدة: ١١٧- ١١٨].
Narrated by Bukhari in the chapters on the prophets (3349) and Muslim in the Book of Paradise (2860), both from the hadith of Mughira bin Numan, who said, Saeed bin Jubayr told me, from Ibn Abbas, and he related the hadith, the wording here being Bukhari's. In some of the narrations he said, "The Messenger of Allah stood among us delivering a sermon of admonition."As for what is reported from Ali bin Abu Talib, "The first to be clothed will be Ibrahim, with two Coptic garments, then the Prophet ﷺ will be clothed with a decorated robe, and he will be at the right of the Throne," this is mawquf.Likewise, what is reported from Ibn Masud is not sound, "The first to be clothed will be Ibrahim. Allah Most High will say, Clothe my close friend. So two white cloaks will be brought and he will wear them, then he will sit facing the Throne. Then my own garment will be brought and I will be clothed in it, and I will stand at his right in a station that no one else will stand in, one for which the first and the last will envy me." Narrated by Imam Ahmad (3787), Saeed bin Zayd told us, Ali bin Hakam Banani told us, from Uthman, from Ibrahim, from Alqama and Aswad, from Ibn Masud, in a long hadith.Uthman here is Uthman bin Umayr Bajali, Abu Yaqzan, Kufi, the blind. The Hafiz said, "Daif, and his memory became confused later in life, and he used to practice tadlis, and he went to extremes in Shia leanings." Saeed bin Zayd is the brother of Hammad bin Zayd, "truthful but has mistaken notions," as stated in Taqrib.Haythami said in al-Majma (10/361–362), "Narrated by Ahmad, Bazzar, and Tabarani, and in all their chains is Uthman bin Umayr, who is daif." Hakim graded it sahih (2/364), but Dhahabi said, "No, by Allah, for Daraqutni judged Uthman to be daif."
