I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spend the entire day writhing in hunger, unable to find even poor-quality dates to fill his stomach.
لقد رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يظل اليوم يلتوي، ما يجد دقلا يملأ به بطنه.
Muslim narrated it in Zuhd (36:2978) through various routes from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shubah narrated to us, from Simak bin Harb, who said, I heard Numan giving a sermon, he said, Umar mentioned what the people had come to possess of worldly wealth, and he said, then he mentioned it.
