Someone asked, "Did you used to sit with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes, often. He would not rise from the spot where he prayed the dawn prayer until the sun had risen. Once it rose, he would get up. The companions would talk among themselves, recalling matters from the days of ignorance, and they would laugh while he would smile."
أكنت تجالس رسول الله ﷺ؟ قال: نعم كثيرا، كان لا يقوم من مصلاه الذي يصلي فيه الصبح حتى تطلع الشمس، فإذا طلعت، قام وكانوا يتحدثون فيأخذون في أمر الجاهلية فيضحكون ويتبسم.
Reported by Muslim in the Book of Virtues (69:2322) from Yahya bin Yahya, who said, Abu Khaythama informed us, from Simak bin Harb, who said, I said to Jabir bin Samura, "Did you sit..." and he related the hadith.
