Zayd bin Haritha came complaining, and the Prophet ﷺ kept saying to him, "Fear Allah and keep your wife."Anas said, "Had the Messenger of Allah ﷺ been one to conceal anything, he would have concealed this verse."Zaynab used to boast over the other wives of the Prophet ﷺ, saying, "Your families gave you in marriage, but Allah Most High gave me in marriage from above the seven heavens."
Bukhari related it in Tawheed (7420) from Ahmad, he said, Muhammad bin Abu Bakr Muqaddami told us, Hammad bin Zayd told us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he narrated it.Zaynab bint Jahsh was the daughter of the paternal aunt of the Prophet ﷺ, and her mother was Umaymah bint Abdul-Muttalib. Zayd bin Haritha, the beloved of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, married her, and she remained with him for about a year or a little more. Then their marital relationship deteriorated, and Allah gave her in marriage to His Prophet ﷺ from above the seven heavens in the year five, putting an end to a pre-Islamic custom involving adoption and the prohibition on a man marrying the former wife of his adopted son.She died in the year twenty, and she was the first of the Prophet's wives ﷺ to join him in death.
