Anas reported that Umm Sulaym used to spread out a leather mat for the Prophet ﷺ so he could take his afternoon nap at her home. While the Prophet ﷺ slept, she would collect drops of his sweat and strands of his hair, storing them in a small flask. Later, she mixed them into a perfume called sukk.When Anas bin Malik was nearing death, he instructed me to place some of that perfume into the burial scent prepared for his body, and so it was done.
عن أنس: أن أم سليم كانت تبسط النبي ﷺ يطعا، فيقيل عندها على ذلك النطع، قال: فإذا نام النبي ﷺ أخذت من عرقه وشعره، فجمعته في قارورة، ثم جمعته في سك، قال: فلما حضرأنس بن مالك الوفاة أوصى إلي أن يجعل في حنوطه من ذلك السك، قال: فجعل في حنوطه.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Isti'dhan (6281), from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Muhammad bin Abdullah Ansari narrated to us, he said, my father narrated to me, from Thumama, and he related it.His saying, "nata" means a mat made of leather.His saying, "fa-yaqilu" means he sleeps at midday.His saying, "sakk" is a type of perfume.His saying, "hanutuhu" is the mixed perfume that is placed specifically for the deceased.
