We entered Makkah with the Prophet ﷺ, and inside the House and around it were three hundred and sixty idols being worshipped besides Allah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave the order, and they were all toppled onto their faces. Then he said, "Truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is ever bound to vanish" [Isra 17:81].Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered the House and prayed two rakahs inside it. He saw within it images of Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq, and they had placed divining arrows in Ibrahim's hand, depicting him as seeking omens with them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah destroy them. Ibrahim never sought omens with divining arrows."Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for saffron and smeared it over those images.
Ibn Abu Shayba (38060) narrated it from Shababa bin Sawwar, who said, Mughira bin Muslim narrated to us, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Zubayr. Al-Hafiz also graded it hasan in Matalib Aliyah (3403). His statement, "Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ called for saffron and smeared it over those figures," contains something strange.
