Abdullah bin Umar reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought Hatib bin Abu Balta, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Did you write this letter?"He replied, "Yes. By Allah, Messenger of Allah, the faith in my heart has not changed. But there was no man from Quraysh except that he had kin and a household to protect his family. I wrote a letter hoping that through it Allah would protect my family."Umar said, "Allow me to deal with him."The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Would you kill him?"Umar said, "Yes, if you permit me."He said, "What do you know? Perhaps Allah has looked upon the people of Badr and said, 'Do as you wish.'"
