Nasr said, "The people of the mosque sent me to Ibn Abu Awfa to ask him what the Prophet ﷺ did with the food taken at Khaybar. So I went to him and asked him about that, saying, 'Did he take a fifth of it?'"He replied, "No, it was less than that. Whenever one of us wanted some of it, he would take what he needed."In another wording, "A man would come and take from it as much as would suffice him, then leave."
Abu Dawud (2704) and Ahmad (19124) narrated it, and Hakim (2/126) graded it sahih, through two routes from Abu Ishaq Shaybani, from Muhammad bin Abu Mujalid, and he mentioned it. The wording is Ahmad's, and the second wording belongs to Abu Dawud and Hakim. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Hakim said, "It is sahih according to the criterion of Bukhari, for he relied on both Muhammad and Abdullah, the two sons of Abu Mujalid."I say, Hakim made Abdullah and Muhammad two sons of Abu Mujalid, but the correct view is that he is one person, whose name has simply been reported differently.
