The Prophet ﷺ made a contract with the people of Khaybar for half of whatever fruit or crops the land produced.
عامل النبي ﷺ خيبر بشطر ما يخرج منها من ثمر أو زرع.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Cultivation and Farming (2329) and Muslim in the Book of Sharecropping (1551:1), both from the hadith of Yahya (who is Qattan) from Ubaydullah, who said, "Nafi told me, from Ibn Umar," and he related it. The wording is Bukhari's.
