The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led a military expedition to Khaybar. We prayed the dawn prayer near it while it was still dark, then the Prophet of Allah ﷺ mounted his horse, and Abu Talha mounted his, with me riding behind Abu Talha. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ rode through the alleys of Khaybar. My knee was touching the thigh of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ. The lower garment slipped back from the thigh of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ, and I could see the whiteness of his thigh. When he entered the town, he said, "Allah is the greatest! Khaybar is destroyed. When we descend upon the territory of a people, evil is the morning of those who have been warned." He said it three times. The people had gone out to their work, and they exclaimed, "Muhammad!" Abdul-Aziz said, some of our companions added, "And the army!"He said, We took it by force.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Prayer (371), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of Jihad and Expeditions (12:1365), both of them by way of Ismail bin Ulaya, from Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb, from Anas, who said, and then he mentioned it. The wording given here is that of Muslim, while Bukhari's wording is longer.Al-khamis means the army, because it is divided into five divisions, the vanguard, the rearguard, its two wings, which are the right flank and the left flank, and the center.
