The Companions of the Tree numbered one thousand three hundred, and Aslam was counted among the Emigrants.
كان أصحاب الشجرة ألفا وثلاثمائة، وكانت أسلم تمن المهاجرين.
Bukhari narrated it in al-Maghazi (4155) and Muslim in al-Imarah (75:1857) from Muaz, who said, "My father narrated to us, Shuba narrated to us, from Amr bin Mura, Abdullah narrated to me," both of them from Ubaydullah bin Abu Awfa, and he related the hadith.Except that Bukhari did not mention the wording of direct narration, but instead introduced it by saying, "Ubaydullah bin Muaz said," and this is taken to mean direct narration, as has been explained repeatedly before.
