He heard Jabir being asked, "How many were you on the day of Hudaybiyyah?"Jabir replied, "We were one thousand four hundred. We pledged allegiance to him while Umar held his hand beneath the tree, which was a Samura tree. All of us pledged allegiance to him except Jadd bin Qays al-Ansari, who hid himself under the belly of his camel."
أنه سمع جابرا يسأل: كم كانوا يوم الحديبية؟ قال: كنا أربع عشرة مائة فبايعناه وعمر أخذ بيده تحت الشجرة. وهي سمرة، فبايعناه غير جد بن قيس الأنصاري اختبأ تحت بطن بعيره.
Muslim narrated it in "The Command" (69:1856), from Muhammad bin Hatim, who said, Hajjaj told us, from Ibn Jurayj, who said, Abu Zubayr told me, and he then mentioned it.Jadd bin Qays bin Sakhr bin Khansa bin Sinan bin Ubayd bin Adi bin Tamim bin Ghanm bin Kaab bin Salama al-Ansari al-Salami, whose kunya was Abu Abdullah, was among those accused of hypocrisy. Ibn Abdul-Barr said at the end of his biographical entry (363), "It has been said that he repented, and his repentance was good."
