The Prophet ﷺ said, "A group of people will be brought out of the Hellfire after it has scorched them, and they will enter Paradise. The people of Paradise will call them the Hellfire-folk."In another narration, "Some people will be touched by the scorching of the Fire as a punishment for sins they committed, then Allah will admit them into Paradise by the grace of His mercy, and they will be called the Hellfire-folk."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: يخرج قوم من النار بعد ما مسهم منها سفع فيدخلون الجنة، فيسميهم أهل الجنة الجهنميين. وفي رواية: ليصيبن أقواما سفع من النار بذنوب أصابوها عقوبة، ثم يدخلهم الله الجنة بفضل رحمته، يقال لهم الجهنميون.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on Riqaq (6559) from Hudba bin Khalid, who said, our teacher Hammam narrated to us, from Qatada, who said, Anas bin Malik narrated to us, and he mentioned it.The second narration is also found in Bukhari (7450), through a different route, from Hisham Dastawai, from Qatada, from Anas, who mentioned something similar.His saying "safa" comes from the root safaa yasfau safan, meaning to seize something and pull it forcefully. This is related to Allah's saying, "No indeed, if he does not stop, We will surely seize him by the forelock" [Alaq 96:15]. It is also said, "the fire scorched his face," meaning it changed the color of his skin and blackened it.These are people of monotheism who committed sins and wrongdoings, and so they were made to enter the Fire, then Allah admitted them into Paradise by His mercy. They are the ones included in the intercession. As for the people of shirk, there is no intercession for them.
