The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said on the day of al-Ahzab, "Who will bring us news of the enemy?"Zubayr replied, "I will."Then he asked again, "Who will bring us news of the enemy?"Zubayr replied, "I will."Then he asked a third time, "Who will bring us news of the enemy?"Zubayr replied, "I will."Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Every prophet has a devoted disciple, and my disciple is Zubayr."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Military Expeditions (4113), and Muslim narrated it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (48:2415), both of them via Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said the following, then he related the account. His statement, "Who will bring us news of the people?" refers to news of Banu Qurayza regarding their breach of the covenant. As for the story of Huzaifa , that concerned news of Quraysh, and it took place on a night of severe cold.
