The Prophet ﷺ was wearing two coats of mail on the day of Uhud. He tried to climb up onto the rock but was unable to, so Talha crouched beneath him, and the Prophet ﷺ climbed up on him until he settled on the rock. He said, "I heard the Prophet ﷺ say, 'Talha has earned it.'"
كان علي النبي ﷺ درعان يوم أحد، فنهض إلى الصخرة فلم يستطع، فأقعد طلحة تحته، فصعد النبي ﷺ عليه حتى استوى على الصخرة، فقال: سمعت النبي ﷺ يقول: أوجب طلحة.
Tirmidhi (3738, 1692), Ahmad (1417), Ibn Hibban (6979), Hakim (3/374), and Bayhaqi (6/370, 9/46) all narrated it through various routes from Muhammad bin Ishaq (and it is found in his Sirah as quoted in Sirat bin Hisham 2/86), who said, Yahya bin Abbad bin Abdullah bin Zubayr told me, from his father, from his grandfather Abdullah bin Zubayr, from Zubayr bin Awwam, and he related it. The mention of "his father" is missing from Al-Ihsan. Its chain is hasan because of Muhammad bin Ishaq.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we do not know it except through the hadith of Muhammad bin Ishaq." End of quote.Hakim said, "This is a sahih hadith according to the criterion of Muslim."His statement, "Talha has earned it," means he performed a deed that guaranteed him Paradise.There are other hadiths on this subject that will come in their proper place in the Book of Military Expeditions.
