Ahmad narrated it (25166), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (4699), both from the hadith of Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Saeed narrated to us, from Qatada, from Zurara bin Awfa, from Saad bin Hisham, from Ayesha, and he related it.Ibn Kathir said in al-Bidaya (5/67), "This meets the standard of the two Shaykhs."I say, it contains Saeed, who is Ibn Abu Aruba, and he had become confused in his later years, and Muhammad bin Jafar heard from him after this confusion began. However, Nasai narrated it in al-Kubra (8809) through another route, from Khalid bin Harith, from Saeed, with the same wording. Khalid bin Harith heard from him before the confusion set in. Saeed bin Abu Aruba is also corroborated in Musnad Shamiyin by Tabarani (2720), and with this the chain of this hadith is confirmed as sahih.This hadith contains evidence for taking precautions when encountering the enemy, including concealment, since the presence of bells on the necks of the camels would reveal their location.
