Bukhari reported it in the Book of the Beginning of Creation (3239), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (165), both from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Ghundar told us (he is Muhammad bin Jafar), who said, Shuba told us, from Qatada, from Abu Aliyah, who said, the cousin of your Prophet told us, meaning Ibn Abbas, and then he related it. The wording given here is Bukhari's, while Muslim's wording is abbreviated. However, Muslim also reported it through another route from Qatada with his chain, matching Bukhari's wording.His saying "tiwalan" means tall, and there are two dialectal forms of this word. His saying "jadan" here refers to jaadah of the body, meaning its compactness and solidity, not curliness of the hair. His saying "Shanuah" refers to a well-known tribe in Yemen, from which comes the phrase Azd Shanuah, who are a clan from Yemen.His saying, "I saw Isa, a man of medium height, of medium build, with a complexion between red and white..." Likewise, in the hadith of Abu Hurairah, "then there was a man of medium build, reddish." However, in the hadith of Ibn Umar found in Bukhari (3441), it states, "No, by Allah, the Prophet ﷺ did not describe Isa as red."The way to reconcile these two accounts is that Isa was not red in a way that disfigured his features, as is the case with Dajjal, but rather he was reddish, inclining toward the brown complexion that is considered a mark of beauty in appearance, since the climate of Palestine does not make it fitting for Isa to have been dark brown inclining toward black.
