The Prophet ﷺ prostrated upon reciting Surah an-Najm, and along with him prostrated the Muslims, the polytheists, the jinn, and the humans. This was when Allah's words were revealed, "So prostrate to Allah and worship Him" [Najm 53:62].
سجد النبي ﷺ بالنجم، وسجد معه المسلمون والمشركون والجن والإنس أي لما نزل قوله تعالى: {فاسجدوا لله واعبدوا} [النجم: ٦٢].
Bukhari narrated it in tafsir (4862) from Abu Muamar, who said, Abdul-Warith narrated to us, who said, Ayub narrated to us, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it.It had spread among the people that the people of Makkah had accepted Islam, so some of them, including Uthman bin Mazun, returned to Makkah. They did not find that what had spread among the people was true, so they went back, and a group traveled with them to Abyssinia.Muhammad bin Saad mentioned the details of this in his Tabaqat (1/305-206), but its chain contains Muhammad bin Umar Waqidi. Muhammad bin Umar said in it, "They had set out in Rajab of the year five, and they stayed through Shaban and the month of Ramadan. The sajdah took place in the month of Ramadan, and they arrived in Shawwal of the year five." Their number was more than eighty men, among them Jafar bin Abu Talib.Muhammad bin Ishaq said, after listing their names, "The total of those who joined the land of Abyssinia and emigrated to it among the Muslims, apart from their children whom they brought with them while young or who were born there, was eighty-three men, if Ammar bin Yasir was among them." He himself was uncertain about that. See Ibn Ishaq (no. 304) and Sirat bin Hisham (1/330). This number includes those who made the first hijra. Here now is the hadith of Umm Salama, who recounts the story of the first and second hijra, since she was with her husband during the first hijra.
