When the verse "And warn your nearest kindred" [Shuara 26:214] was revealed, the Prophet of Allah ﷺ set out to a heap of rocks on a mountain. He climbed onto the highest stone of it and called out, "Sons of Abd Manaf! I am a warner. My case with you is like that of a lookout on a mountain who sees the enemy and rushes off to keep watch for his people. Fearing that they might reach them before he could, he begins to cry out, 'A raid at dawn!'"
لما نزلت: {وأنذر عشيرتك الأقربين} قال: انطلق نبي الله ﷺ إلى رضمة من جبل. فعلا أعلاها حجرا ثم نادى: يا بني عبد منافاه! إني نذير، إنما مثلي مثلكم كمثل الجبل رأى العدو فانطلق يربأ أهله. فخشي أن يسبقوه فجعل يهتف يا صباحاه.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Faith (207) from Abu Kamil Jahdari, who said, Yazid bin Zuray narrated to us, who said, Tamimi narrated to us, from Abu Uthman, from Qabisa bin Mikhariq and Zuhayr bin Malik bin Amr, who both said, then he related the hadith.
