Jabir bin Abdullah reported,

I heard the Prophet ﷺ speaking about the pause in revelation, and he said in his account, "As I was walking along, I heard a voice from the sky. I raised my head, and there was the angel who had come to me at Hira, seated on a throne between the sky and the earth. I was seized with terror at the sight of him, so I returned home and said, 'Wrap me up! Wrap me up!' So they covered me with a cloak, and Allah عز وجل revealed, "You who are wrapped in a cloak" down to His words, "and shun all filth" [Muddaththir 74:1–5], meaning the idols. This was before prayer was made obligatory. Then the revelation grew intense and came in close succession."
