The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Tell us about yourself."He said, "Yes. I am the supplication of my father Ibrahim and the glad tidings of Isa, peace be upon them both. When my mother was pregnant with me, she saw that a light came forth from her by which the palaces of Sham were illuminated. I was given to be nursed among the tribe of Banu Saad bin Bakr. While I was with our young lambs, two men came to me wearing white garments, carrying a basin of gold filled with snow. They laid me down, opened my chest, took out my heart, split it open, and removed from it a black clot, which they cast away. Then they washed my heart and my belly with that snow until it was clean, then they returned it as it had been. One of them said to his companion, 'Weigh him against ten of his nation,' so he weighed me against ten and I outweighed them. Then he said, 'Weigh him against a hundred of his nation,' so he weighed me against a hundred and I outweighed them. Then he said, 'Weigh him against a thousand of his nation,' so he weighed me against a thousand and I outweighed them. Then he said, 'Leave him be, for even if you weighed him against his entire nation, he would outweigh them.'"
عن أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ أنهم قالوا له أخبرنا عن نفسك قال: نعم أنا دعوة أبي إبراهيم وبشرى عيسى عليهما السلام، ورأت أمي حين حملت بي أنه خرج منها نور أضاءت له قصور الشام، واسترضعت في بني سعد بن بكر، فبينا أنا في بهم لنا أتاني رجلان عليهما ثياب بيض معهما طست من ذهب مملوء ثلجا فاضجعاني فشقا بطني ثم استخرجا قلبي فشقاه فأخرجا منه علقة سوداء فالقياها. ثم غسلا قلبي وبطني بذلك الثلج، حتى إذا القياه رداه كما كان، ثم قال أحدهما لصاحبه زنه بعشرة من أمته فوزنني بعشرة فوزنتهم، ثم قال زنه بألف من بمائة من أمته فوزنني بألف فوزنتهم، فقال دعه عنك فلو وزنته بامته لوزنهم.
Muhammad bin Ishaq narrated it, he said, "Thawr bin Yazid narrated to me from Khalid bin Madan," and he related it. Ibn Kathir mentioned it in Bidayah wa Nihayah (2/275) and said, "This is a good, strong isnad."The hadith is also mentioned by Ibn Hisham in Sirah (1/166). Hakim recorded it (2/600) via the route of Yunus bin Bukayr, from Muhammad bin Ishaq with his isnad, limited to his statement that palaces in villages in Syria were lit up for him. He said, "Khalid bin Madan is among the best of the Followers. He accompanied Muaz bin Jabal and other companions after him. So when he traces his hadith back to the companions, its isnad is sahih."The wet nurse was Halimah bint Abu Dhuayb Saadiyyah. She took him with her to her land, and he stayed with her among Banu Saad bin Bakr for about five years. Some have mentioned other women who nursed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, but the correct account is what I have mentioned.
