It is as if I can see the Prophet ﷺ recounting the story of one of the prophets whose people struck him until he bled, while he wiped the blood from his face and said, "Allah, forgive my people, for they do not know."
كأني أنظر إلى النبي ﷺ يحكي نبيا من الأنبياء ضربه قومه فأدموه، وهو يمسح الدم عن وجهه ويقول: اللهم اغفر لقومي فإنهم لا يعلمون.
Bukhari related it in the chapters on the prophets (3477), and Muslim in jihad (1792:105), both through the route of Amash, from Shaqiq, from Abdullah, who said, then he narrated it. The name of this prophet is not known with certainty in the other hadiths.
