The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked, "Which of the two terms did Musa complete?"He replied, "The fuller and more complete of the two."
أن رسول الله ﷺ سئل: أي الأجلين قضى موسي؟ قال: أتمهما وأكملهما.
Bazzar narrated it (Kashf Astar - 2245) from Ahmad bin Abban Qurashi, who said, Sufyan, meaning Ibn Uyayna, narrated to us, Ibrahim bin Ayan narrated to us, from Hakam bin Abban, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it. Bazzar said, "We do not know of it being attributed to Ibn Abbas as a raised report except through this route."I say, its chain is hasan because of Hakam bin Abban, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan. It was also narrated from Ibn Abbas that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I asked Jibreel which of the two terms Musa fulfilled." He said, "The fuller and more complete of the two."Humaydi transmitted it in his Musnad (535), and through his route, Tabari in his Tafsir (18/236), and Ibn Abu Hatim in his Tafsir (9/2970), from Sufyan bin Uyayna, who said, Ibrahim bin Yahya bin Abu Yaqub narrated to me, from Hakam bin Abban, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it.In it is Ibrahim bin Yahya, whom Ibn Hibban mentioned in Thiqat, while Azdi said, "His hadith is not corroborated," and Dhahabi said, "It carries a munkar report, and the man is obscure," then he mentioned this hadith. See Mizan (1/74). Ibn Kathir said, "This Ibrahim is unknown except through this hadith." Bidaya wa Nihaya (2/50-51).There are other hadiths on this subject, but they are not sound.
