Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on the Prophets (3396), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (165: 266), both from the hadith of Ghundar, who said, Shuba narrated to us from Qatada, who said, I heard Abu Aliyah say, The cousin of your Prophet ﷺ narrated to me, meaning Ibn Abbas, and he then related it.In Muslim's wording, "On the night I was taken on the night journey, I passed by Musa bin Imran , a brown-skinned, tall man with curly hair, as if he were one of the men of Shanuah..."His saying, "one of the men of Shanuah," with a fatha on the shin, a damma on the nun, and a sakinah on the waw, refers to a tribe from Yemen who trace their lineage to Shanuah, who was Abdullah bin Kaab bin Abdullah bin Malik bin Nasr bin Azd. He was nicknamed Shanuah because of an aversion that existed between him and his people, and the attributive form of the name is Shanui.Ibn Qutayba said, He was given this name from the expression, "a man in whom there is shanuah," meaning aversion to impurity, and tanazzuz means keeping away from filth.Dawudi said, The men of Azd are known for their tallness.See Fath al-Bari (6/429).
