The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ibrahim the Prophet was circumcised with an adze when he was eighty years old."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: اختتن إبراهيم النبي عليه السلام وهو ابن ثمانين سنة بالقدوم.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapters on the prophets (3356), and Muslim in the chapters on virtues (2370:151), both from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Mughira bin Abdul-Rahman Hizami narrated to us, from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.In Bukhari's wording, "Ibrahim was circumcised after eighty years." He narrated it in the chapter on seeking permission (6298) from Abu Yaman, who said, Shuayb bin Abu Hamza informed us, Abu Zinad narrated to us, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. The qadum is a tool.As for what Ibn Hibban (6204) and others narrated from Abu Hurairah, from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that he said, "Ibrahim was circumcised when he was one hundred and twenty years old," this is anomalous and cannot be relied upon, and it has also been narrated as a stopped report.
