The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "When one of you fights, let him avoid striking the face, for Allah Most High created Adam in his form."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا قاتل أحدكم، فليجتنب الوجه فإن الله تعالى خلق آدم على صورة وجهه.
Ibn Abu Asim narrated it in Sunnah (516), from Muhammad bin Thalaba bin Sawa, who said, my uncle Muhammad bin Sawa told me, from Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, from Abu Rafi, from Abu Hurairah, who said, and then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Saeed bin Abu Aruba is the most reliable of people regarding Qatada, so his differing should not be counted as an anomaly. Something supporting this has also come by another route from Abu Hurairah, which is what Ibn Abu Asim narrated in Sunnah (521) and Abdullah bin Ahmad in Sunnah (536/2), both of them from the hadith of Ibn Lahia, from Abu Yunus, the freed slave of Abu Hurairah, from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever fights should avoid the face, for the form of a human being's face is upon the form of the face of the Merciful." Its narrators are trustworthy except for Ibn Lahia, and there is well known discussion concerning him.
